The GREEF NEW ENERGY GDG series features a disc-type permanent magnet generator that operates without an iron core. In this design, the spindle and rotor are arranged in a stacked disc formation. The stator is fixed at the center, while rotors rotate on both sides. Notably, the spindle contains only windings and does not include an iron core.
Both the stator and rotor adopt a flat disc structure, utilizing axial air gap magnetic flux. They are positioned alternately along the axial direction. Thanks to the compact axial length and large diameter of the disc generator, it is straightforward to implement a multi-pole configuration. This results in a generator that boasts a high power-to-mass ratio, low operational speed requirements, and the ability to start at low wind speeds.
In addition to its compact size and lightweight construction, the GDG series generator offers low energy consumption, a compact structural design, and high efficiency. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for direct-drive vertical axis wind turbines, where the rotor’s low resistance to wind is particularly advantageous.
The GDG series disc type permanent magnet generators come in two configurations: outer rotor and inner rotor types. In the outer rotor version, the shaft remains stationary while the casing rotates, and the cable exits through the middle of the shaft. Conversely, in the inner rotor design, the casing is fixed, the shaft rotates, and the cable is routed outside the casing.
The absence of hysteresis and gear notch effects results in an exceptionally low starting torque of less than 0.1 N·m. This feature ensures smooth and efficient operation from the very beginning.
With no core present, mechanical resistance and energy losses are significantly minimized. This leads to enhanced overall efficiency. The device utilizes advanced "Precise Coil" technology to further optimize performance.
